Install Demohacks

Install from Chrome Web Store

  1. Visit the Chrome Web Store and search for “Demohacks”
  2. Click Add to Chrome
  3. Review the permissions and click Add extension
  4. The extension icon appears in your browser toolbar

Supported browsers: Chrome, Edge, and Brave can install extensions from the Chrome Web Store.

Install on Firefox

  1. Visit the Firefox Add-ons store and search for “Demohacks”
  2. Click Add to Firefox
  3. Confirm the installation when prompted
  4. The extension icon appears in your browser toolbar

Install as Unpacked Extension (Development)

For testing or development builds:

  1. Open your browser’s extension management page:
    • Chrome/Edge/Brave: chrome://extensions/
    • Firefox: about:addons
  2. Enable Developer mode (toggle in the top-right)
  3. Click Load unpacked (Chrome/Edge/Brave) or Install Add-on From File (Firefox)
  4. Select the extension’s build directory (build/chrome-mv3-prod or build/chrome-mv3-dev)

Verify Installation

After installation, you should see:

  • The Demohacks icon in your browser toolbar
  • The side panel opens when you click the extension icon
  • Keyboard shortcut Alt+Shift+D toggles demo mode

Permissions

The extension requests permissions to:

  • Access active tabs for page customization
  • Store your demo configurations
  • Inject content scripts for real-time page modifications

You can grant or revoke site-specific permissions through the extension’s context menu.
